The Citizens Foundation

Synopsis

Almost half of Pakistani children never attend school. In 1996, some concerned Pakistanis started The Citizens Foundation to address this problem. They began a network of low-cost, privately-run schools in the heart of communities, where boys and girls can walk to school together and not worry their families about traveling long distances. Only charging what families can afford, they have built 910 schools in Pakistan serving over 126,000 children. One student at a time, they are broadening support for education across the country.
