Our Beautiful Planet to feature Klamath River Restoration Project

We are thrilled to announce three new films for Our Beautiful Planet about the Klamath River Renewal Project—the largest dam removal project in American history. The films will explore the historic project from multiple perspectives, including decades of activism and conservation efforts by local indigenous communities, the massive and complex undertaking of removing four hydroelectric dams from the river’s path, and the subsequent rehabilitation of ecosystems in the Klamath River Basin that is expected to continue for more than ten years into the future.
The Klamath River Renewal Project is an unprecedented collaborative effort between federal, state, tribal, and local governments, as well as environmental groups and businesses that aims to restore over 400 miles of habitat for salmon and other fish species and restore the majestic Klamath River to a free-flowing state. The project will cost an estimated $450 million for dam removal, environmental monitoring, and long-term adaptive restoration to heal the Klamath River and its surrounding ecosystem.
